Naomi and Hugh came to us with the idea of wanting to incorporate colour into their flowers for their February wedding at Lindenderry Estate in the Mornington Peninsula. Whilst Naomi had mentioned she wasn’t an overly “pink” girl, she did have her bridesmaids in a dusty mauve shade and wanted flowers to match. We ended up coming up with a fun colour palette that incorporated the colour of the bridesmaids dresses but moved more into a terracotta, burnt umber ombre of oranges, lemons and mauve’s. We suggested that we really take advantage of dahlia season - one of my favourite flowers! Colourful, fun, blowsy yet simple, this way we were able to achieve the desired colour palette whilst keeping away from the pink/white norm. It was a pleasant drive out to the Dahlia farm to select everything for this job locally. I like to think that every year when it is their wedding anniversary, it will be dahlia season; a little garden grown piece of sunshine to remind them of their special day.
